We must put the People back in Congress by having a representative who understands that he is employed by the People. A Congressman should be a public servant, not a career politician. Public servants, serve the People, career politicians serve themselves. South Mississippi and our Nation need a fresh, new leader in Congress who is accountable to the People.

The time of career politicians and the strangle hold they and their special interests have on our government must end. I believe we must act now to elect new public servants and enact meaningful reform that will put the People back in Congress.

Term Limits — I will champion a constitutional amendment requiring term limits in Congress. I support a four term limit (8yrs) for the House of Representatives and a two term limit (12yrs) for the Senate.

Transparency — Every action in Congress, other than limited exceptions for items dealing with National Security, should be open and transparent. The People, as my employer, have the right to know what is going on in their government and I am accountable to them.

One Subject Law — I will sponsor a law that requires all bills to contain one subject and a title that describes the actual content of the bill. Under the current process, bills become encumbered with amendments that may or may not be related to the original text of the bill and titles can be used to shape public opinion that have little or nothing to do with the actual content of the bill. This also allows earmarking and pork spending to continue unabated. The People have the right to know what their Representatives are voting for and it is virtually impossible to tell under the current process.

House Rule Reform — I will work to reform the House rules that give the Speaker and “tenured” members an unequal amount of power to manipulate and control the legislative process. Each representative in Congress should have the ability to represent their respective districts on equal footing and should not be diminished based on position, committee, seniority or party affiliation.
